From 1 line LCD to the iPhone screen

Try to wrap your mind around the distance traveled between the screen on the first LCD calculators and watches (not LED which came before the LCD) to the current screen on the iPhone. Liquid Crystal Display technology started with no grey scales, just on and off. It was the exact point in history where the seed that would grow into the iP screen sprouted. Today's huge widescreen LCD displays are technological wonders, but only appreciated as such if one understands what came before.

When I look at the iP screen I can hardly believe it is actually LCD, if you told a time traveler from 1972 it was a CRT (cathode ray tube) she would believe you.
The screen is amazing, great resolution of small details, extreme brightness (I have never needed to set the brightness to full) and just fun to look at!
